Todd Awards 2005: The Top 5 Videogames

With December upon us, it's time for the coveted "Toddy Awads". I pick the manly/geeky products of the year (at least, to me). First up? Video games. Here's my top 5 games, with a few honorable mentions thrown in for good measure.

	Soul Calibur III Sony Playstation II How can my wife pick up a controller and in about a half an hour start wuppin' my a$$ with that chick with the stick? I don't know. But that's one of the things that makes SC III so dope. We'd been playing Soul Calibur II for months to your enjoyment. The create-a-fighter function really isn't that great, plus the story modes are boring. It's basically the same game as before. But for us, that's just fine!
	Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Sony Playstation II "Hot Coffee. Hot Coffee. Hot Coffee..." Whatever... This is THE GTA game. I don't know how they did it, but they captured South Central Los Angeles during the gang wars perfectly. I could even pick out some of my old hang out spots in the game. Yes, is violence, and profane, and in bad taste. But don't you come to expect that from the GTA series? Nuff said....
	Smackdown! vs.Raw 2006 Sony Playstation II I'm a wrestling game nut! And this is the finest piece of work since WWF No Mercy on the N64. Sure, it's not perfect. The AI sucks, but you can't have everything. You can battle for championship belts in exhibition mode, design your own wrestler, complete with custom look, moves and entrance. And most of all, you can beat John Cena in the head with a chair over, and over, and over, and over, and over...
	God Of War Sony Playstation II Pure violence and mayhem! Destory any and everything in your path. The moves, the graphics, the story... all top notch! This is one of those games that you'd get in from work and start playing. The next thing you know, it's time to go back to work. I love this game!!!!
	Resident Evil 4 Nintendo GameCube That's right! On the GameCube! This is by far the best RE game EVER. They invented the franchise, taking out the slow clumsy zombies and put in crazed, infected half zombies who actually think! The controls were vastly improved. The whole look and feel of the game was creepy. This pretty much justisfied the purchase of the Gamecube. I can't wait for RE 5 on the PS3.
Honorable Mentions
	Madden NFL 2006 Microsoft xBox It's basically last year's game with an updated roster. The new stuff they added kinda sucks. You'd think if you force everyone else out of the football video game business, the least you can do is step up your game. Sad, sad outing. ESPN 2H5 was the sh!t. Now we're must stuck with this.
	Mercenaries Microsoft xBox You're a Merc dropping in a country of waring nations. You pick and chose certain jobs for money and to win favor with the factons, at the same time trying not to piss off their enemies. It's a cool concept that's fun for a minute or two. Then you get bored, steal a helicopter and start blowing up everything you can find. ah, good fun...
	Knights Of The Old Republic II: The Sith Lords Microsoft xBox The first KotOR is one of my favorite games of ALL TIME! Star Wars RPG? F*** yeah!!! Well, the follow up was a great game but had too many buts and problems. The storyline didn't make any sense and the end sucked because the developers ran out of time to implement it. Still, it's a great playthrough. The characters are great. I wish i could found out what happened to them...
